The World’s First Couples Vibrator! We-Vibe @LondonDrugs!

Posted on Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Product Reviews or Commentary

I have to admit, this is definitely the most interesting post that I have written to date.  This is a category that is not the most comfortable to write about, for me anyway; but sexual health and well being is an important category and really should be talked about more in Pharmacy and probably just in general.  This is really a post that I will say right away contains opinions expressed that are truly mine and not necessarily those of the company that I work for.

This is not a post for everyone and this type of product is also not for everyone.  If you are uncomfortable with the topic of sex and sexual health; stop reading now.  This is a post to show that there are products available in mainstream that would not have been years ago. This is a category that is becoming increasingly popular and important today as our lives are more stressed than ever and there seems to be more and more sexual related issues (how many more Viagra and Cialis commercials do you need to see before you realize we have some “issues” in our society) than ever before and that good / healthy sexual relations between consenting adults (this is where I get to say my 2 cents worth and dare say, I really mean ADULTS!).  I think what you will see, from my standpoint anyway, these categories really need to be brought into “normal” retail so as to take away the negative and / or pornographic “feeling” that these products can carry. The sex shops sell for one reason, the drug stores for another.

It has only been the last 5 years or so that traditional pharmacy has really begun to embrace the sexual health category outside of the regular offerings of condoms and lubricants.  The company that I work for ( there is a very proactive and cutting edge Buyer for these categories, Karen, and she has been instrumental here ) has been a company that has not shied away from this potential controversial topic as we have always viewed it as a health category and not a “sex toy” category.  Karen was the first Buyer in a Canadian Drug Store (I think she was the 1st in any mainstream retailer in North America) to list the Durex Play units March of 2005 and continues to give men and women many choices for their sexual health and well being.

Sexual Health as defined by The WHO (World Health Organization) is as follows;

“Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be respected, protected and fulfilled.”

This post is not going to written in a clinical nor personal voice because quite frankly I have expertise in either.  This is simply to give you an idea that there are products out there and that London Drugs is one such company that  does have much to offer in sexual health.

Specifically, there is a product listed in the stores called the We-Vibe II.

Right from the Webpage;

The We-Vibe II is unique in design, this revolutionary product is the first ever vibrator that can be used while making love. The innovative design allows for both external clitoral and internal g-spot stimulation for women engaging in both solo and partner play.

The We-Vibe is hands free, strap free and wireless. Created from 100% medical grade silicone, it’s soft, comfortable and easy to use.

The How to use video is as follows;
